Today was a day at sea. A day of rest. Unless you’re married to Margherita, then it’s a day of finding things to do, because "rest is for the weary."
We had a quick breakfast and it was off and running to a lecture on Greek mythology. This was quite appropriate as this was the Hellenic Cruise and we were seeing all of these Greek things. At the end of the lectures I was a bit more frightened than at peace knowing how many gods attacked each other, chopped each other's heads off and, worse, the people believed it.
Then boom! It was off and running downstairs to the art auction. It wasn’t much of an auction as only six people were there, but it became a bit of an art history lesson. The bids started high, nobody started bidding and then we were off running again.
Remember, this was the day of rest.
Boom! It was the Market Lunch. They take all of the food out of the kitchen, lie it out like an open-air farmer’s market and let you pick what you want. It was here that I discovered that Margherita eats systematically depending on the price. She starts at the most expensive entries and works down.
"Oooh, crab legs!"
But there was no more time to eat. No more time for the sushi or crab legs.
It was time for a cooking class. Margherita needed to learn to make pasta. ,I on the other hand, learned the error of my ways with cooking classes. I just sat in the back with a cappuccino and watched her happily learn to make pasta.
Bang! Boom! Off we were running again to the 4:00 ice cream social. We loaded up on ice cream and ran to the name-that-tune contest. I ran to the room to pick up something from the room and came back on the sixth question. Margherita was devastated when I got most of them right when I was there.
"But if you were here earlier, we would have won!"
"I know honey. Our life would have been wonderful then, but now its terrible."
She felt happy about this empathy.
Our day was the same marathon throughout. Ran to dinner. Then we ran to a production of Footloose, which was the dancers doing ‘80s songs. Then we ran to the bar, hung out and ran to bed.
At the end of the day Margherita said, "Why am I so tired?"
