Downton Abbey

Downton Abbey is a British period drama created by Julian Fellowes that follows the lives of the Crawley family, owners of Downton, and their butlers, maids, footmen and other staff. Season 1 begins when the Crawley's receive news of the Titanic sinking, and the show continues to depict numerous historical events in each subsequent season. Class hierarchy is very much present on the estate, but Fellowes portrays a wide range of characters with equal importance. Downton Abbey has experienced critical and popular acclaim in both the UK and US - it has received numerous awards, including Emmy's and Golden Globes, and draws millions of viewers each week. The show is currently in the 3rd season in the US, airing each Sunday on PBS Masterpiece Classic at 6 pm EST, 9 pm PST.
