Arnold Schwarzenegger says ‘Terminator 5’ hopes to start filming in January

Terminator 5 is finally starting to come together. After a few months of being stagnant, the project has picked up steam with Paramount reportedly agreeing to be a partner and Arnold Schwarzenegger confirming that filming could start in January.

While attending the 21st Century Financial Education Summit in Sydney, Australia, the former California governor said that he will definitely be back for Terminator 5, reiterating what he said in January.

“I’m very happy that the studios want me to be in Terminator 5 and to star as the Terminator, which we start shooting in January,” he told the audience, reports Entertainment Weekly. The site notes that Schwarzenegger also said that he is interested in sequels to Conan and Twins.

Terminator 5 is going to be produced by Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures and her brother David Ellison's Skydance Productions. Megan Ellison has had the rights to the franchise since 2011 and her brother agreed to co-finance. Earlier this week, The Wrap broke the news that Paramount is looking to join as a distributor.

Deadline just ran a report stating that the two Ellison companies would each finance 33 percent of the film and Paramount will put up the rest. Paramount and Skydance just made World War Z, which hits theaters next week.

The Terminator franchise was created by James Cameron, who directed the first two classic films. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines followed in 2003 and Terminator Salvation in 2009.

Laeta Kalogridis (Shutter Island) and Patrick Lussier (Drive Angry) are writing Terminator 5, but no director has been hired.
