Police are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide after the bodies of a husband, wife, and their son were found in their Pittman, New Jersey home Tuesday morning just after 10 a.m.

Police arrived at their house for a welfare check when they found the bodies of 49-year-old Francis Adolf Sr., his wife 44-year-old Bonnie Adolf, and their six-year-old son Francis Adolf Jr. There was nobody else in the home when they arrived, and investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the exact causes of death.

The couple had no recorded history of domestic abuse and the neighbors did not suspect any issues in the family, although records show that the couple filed for bankruptcy in 2011.

According to Daily Mail, the family had moved into the home about a year ago after the death of Bonnie’s mother. Bonnie was also recovering from a stroke she had a few months ago.

Both of the parents worked as nurses, and Francis was a self-proclaimed Christian libertarian, with a very active Twitter page. More recently his tweets became stranger, and on July 30 he tweeted,

"Goodbye forever twitter. My marriage is too important. Pray for me, my wife and family. Love you all. Thanks,” Philly.com reports.

Prosecutors said while in the home, they found some of Adolf’s writings that showed signs of wanting to harm himself and his family members.
