Lady Gaga goes on Twitter rant on tabloid headlines to promote ‘Do What U Want’

Lady Gaga went on a Twitter rant Sunday, which may have looked like an attack on the tabloid rumors that have followed her throughout her career. However, it was also likely a way to promote her new single, “Do What U Want,” which features R. Kelly.

The first tweet referenced the Fall 2012 rumors about her weight struggles. At the time, Gaga responded in the best way she knew how: creating “A Body Revolution 2013” and admitting that she dealt with eating disorders as a teen. However, Sunday’s Twitter rant proved that she didn’t forget about the rumors.

Next, she took aim at critics who call her a Madonna copy:

In other messages, she references her drug use, rumors about her being a hermaphrodite, the Westboro Baptist Church protests and the fact that “Applause” couldn't top Katy Perry’s “Roar” on Billboard.

Of course, the rant came just hours before the release of “Do What U Want,” the new single from ARTPOP. According to MTV News, the track features Gaga and Kelly taking on critics. “You can't have my heart/ And you won't use my mind but/ Do what you want with my body,” Gaga sings.
