Taylor Swift has upset some of her neighbors in Westerly, Rhode Island by rebuilding a sea wall outside of her waterfront home that was damaged by Hurricane Sandy.

The “I Knew You Were Trouble” singer, 24, was accused of not obtaining the proper permits to build the wall on a “public” beach but a Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council spokesperson Laura Dwyer confirmed she did everything legally and correctly.

An opinion column posted on Tuesday accused Swift of “impeding” public beach access. Dwyer told the Westerly Sun, however, that they “made sure” that the construction didn’t block beach access to the public.
“We’ve done our due diligence,” Dwyer said. “It’s a permitted activity.” She added, “There must be access at all times. We made sure of that.”

Swift purchased her Rhode Island oceanfront home back in April. She paid for the $17.75 million home in cash after it was originally listed for $20 million.
