Retired NBA star Dennis Rodman and other former NBA players, have arrived in North Korea to play in an expedition game for the country’s ruler.
According to CNN, Rodman and others traveled to the country and are set to play in a game for leader Kim Jong Un’s birthday on Wednesday.
The Associated Press reports that the former players expected to participate in the controversial game include Kenny Anderson, Cliff Robinson, Vin Baker, Craig Hodges, Doug Christie and Charles D. Smith.
Rodman made headlines back in February when he first visited the troubled country and attended a basketball game with the country’s dictator. Once back in the U.S., he described for the media a friendship that had formed between him and Jong Un.
The outlandish relationship between the two has continued and last month Rodman traveled to the country again to help train a team of North Korean basketball players.
Before his flight took off earlier, Rodman told reporters that he was going to North Korea for the sport and would not address concerns with Jong Un or lobby for the release of detained U.S. citizen Kenneth Bae.
"I'm going to try and interact with him on that point of love for sports. He loves sports. I like the guy, and he's an awesome guy to me," Rodman said. "One thing is about showing people we can actually get along. Let's get along as human beings, not politicians."
