Lady Gaga is a huge fan of Carole King. The "Applause" singer performed during a pre-Grammy awards party at MusicCares in honor of King.
Variety reported that Gaga performed "You’ve Got a Friend" and brought down the house with her heartfelt performance.
King was MusiCares’ Person of the Year and the party brought out many superstars in music to honor King. Jakob Dylan, Pink, James Taylor and Alicia Keys all attended the event.
Steven Tyler and Will.I.Am also attended and performing during the event that honored King.
Tyler spoke about the first music memory that he had of King. "I made out to 'Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow' with my first girlfriend. They were songs that put a dot at the end of my childhood sentences. Look at the list of songs she’s done, and for so many people. She’s a wonder. Her music has made me cry, it’s made me laugh and I’m not the only one," said Tyler.
During King's acceptance speech she spoke about her time in the music industry. King said that she was the "first, last and always a songwriter," Rolling Stone added.
The evening raised $5.5 million for the charity.
