Tennessee Titans hire new head coach

The Tennessee Titans hired Ken Whisenhunt as the new head coach replacing previous leader, Mike Munchak. The former San Diego offensive coordinator will make the move back to music city where he began his coaching career at Vanderbilt University.

His extensive NFL career as both player and coach give the Titans high hopes for the upcoming season. According to foxsportsTitans general manager Ruston Webster said, “I have a lot of respect for Ken as a coach and as an offensive mind …he is intelligent, has a track record with quality offenses and head coaching success."

Whisenhunt, 51, played for nine years in the NFL before coaching. His coaching highlights include leading the San Francisco 49ers to the 2009 Super bowl and helping the Pittsburgh Steelers win the 2006 Super Bowl as offensive coordinator.

Both players and fans are excited about the change as they look to improve their 7-9 record and end a five year playoff drought. According to reuters team President and CEO, Tommy Smith, said, “Ken is a well-respected coach in this league and I am looking forward to seeing his vision become a reality for this team.”
