Jennifer Lopez is bringing her acting talents to the small screen for the upcoming NBC cop drama Shades of Blue.
Lopez already appears on Fox’s American Idol as a co-judge with Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr., but this role will take Lopez back to her acting roots.
According to Variety, Shades of Blue will feature Lopez as its star and executive producer. The show has been green-lit for 13 episodes starting next year.
The show will feature Lopez working undercover FBI’s anti-corruption task force, as single mother Harlee McCord. She finds herself in a complicated situation when forced to work against her cop colleagues.
NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said in a statement about Lopez’s involvement, “Whether its producing, acting, singing or any of her other many entrepreneurial activities, Jennifer is an extraordinary talent and life force, and we’re delighted to be in business with her and Adi Hasak on this sophisticated show.”
Huffington Post reports Ryan Seacrest, who Lopez works with on Idol, will help co-produce Shades of Blue. NBC has ordered 13 episodes already.
