Julianne Nicholson stars in new Sundance series ‘The Red Road,' premieres Thursday

Actress Julianne Nicholson will be appearing in the new Sundance series, The Red Road

In the show, Nicholson plays a woman battling with schizophrenia and a problem with alcohol. She plays a mother of two and the wife of a police officer.

According to the Associated Press, Nicholson said, "It was very dark material.” Thea actress thought that it was “the hardest job I've ever done. But hard stuff is good."

The 40 year old actress has been seen in the Academy Award nominated film August: Osage County with co-stars Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts. She has also appeared on the small screen in The Good Wife, Royal Pains, and Boardwalk Empire. In 2003, she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female for the film, Tully.

According to Variety, The Red Road features Tamara Tunie, Annalise Basso, Allie Gonino, Kiowa Gordon, Lisa Bonet, and Tom Sizemore. It was directed by James Gray. It was executive produced by Aaron Guzikowski, Sarah Condon, and Bridget Carpenter.

The drama, The Red Road, will premiere on the Sundance Channel on Feb. 27 at 9PM.
