Pharrell Williams confirms naming son after Elton John song

Pharrell Williams has confirmed that he named his son after a famous Elton John song.

WENN reports that after rumors swirled that Pharrell named his son, Rocket, after the Elton John hit, "Rocket Dog."

Rumors also stated that Rocket's middle name was Man, but Pharrell shot down those rumors when talking with BBC's Newsbeat.

"Contrary to popular belief, Rocket's middle name is not Man," Pharrell said. "But Elton John's 'Rocket Man' song was a part of it and also Stevie Wonder's 'Rocket Love."

According to Billboard, Pharrell will be performing at the NBA All-Star game Feb. 16. His performance will take place during the player introductions, and will involve some guest appearances.

Earth, Wind & Fire, Janelle Monae, Gary Clark Jr., and Trombone Shorty with his band Orleans Avenue, are among the stars set to perform during half-time.

Kendrick Lamar will perform Saturday night, Feb. 15, after the Sprite Slam Dunk contest. Clark Jr. and Serena Ryder will perform the U.S. and Canadian national anthems at the NBA All-Star Game on Sunday.
