Suspicious powder found near Super Bowl hotels deemed non-toxic

The Super Bowl is being held in New Jersey, and powder was found in hotels near MetLife Stadium, the Super Bowl location. Bombs squads and hazardous materials teams investigated the white powder.

According to CNN, the FBI investigated the powder and tweeted that "substances in suspicious letters in New York and New Jersey were deemed non-hazardous" and that "there is more testing to come."

The police chief of Rutherford, New Jersey said that the substance was discovered as likely being corn starch, according to USAToday.

WABC-TV was the first television station to report the story, and they said the police department received a call that someone opened a letter with the corn starch in it. There were no injuries or evacuations reported though.

There was also a letter containing the corn starch sent to former New York mayor Rudy Giuliani's office. Although the substance was found to be non-toxic, there will be further tests taken to be sure that it is safe.
