John Travolta finally speaks about Idina Menzel Oscars flub

John Travolta is finally speaking out after his now infamous botch of Broadway star Idina Menzel during the Oscars Sunday night.

Travolta was supposed to introduce Menzel and her performance of Frozen’s “Let It Go.” Instead, he introduced someone named “Adele Dazim,” which has been widely mocked on the web. Jimmy Fallon even joked about it, but made sure he got Menzel’s name right. Menzel, Fallon and The Roots later performed “Let It Go” with classroom instruments.

“I've been beating myself up all day,” Travolta said in a statement to People. “Then I thought, what would Idina Menzel say? She'd say, let it go, let it go!”

Travolta added, “Idina is incredibly talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!”

A source for E! News said that the two stars hugged after the show and that Menzel laughed it off. “She thought it was so funny,” the source said. “She was like, 'What are you going to do?'”

Meanwhile, Slate.com has a “Adele Dazim Name Generator,” so this is clearly not going to go away.
