Actor Al Pacino, basketball player Tim Duncan, and actress Renee Zellweger are celebrating their birthdays today.

Al Pacino, 74

Film and theater actor Al Pacino turns 74 today. Pacino made his film debut in the 1969 film Me, Natalie. He earned the lead role in The Panic in Needle Park (1971. Pacino earned an Academy Award nomination for his supporting role as Michael Corleone in The Godfather. He also received nominations for his roles in Dick Tracy, Glengarry Glen Ross, The Godfather Part II, Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon and ...And Justice for All.

Pacino is known for playing mobsters in films, including his main role in Scarface, and he also sometimes portrays police officers, lawyers and detectives.

Pacino also had a successful theater career. He won a Tony award for his roles in Does a Tiger Wear a Necktie and The Basic Training of Pavlo Hummel. Pacino also directed the stage production Looking for Richard.

Pacino received numerous lifetime achievement awards. He was never married but has e children; a daughter, Julie Marie, and twins Anton and Olivia.

Tim Duncan, 38

Professional basketball player Tim Duncan turns 38 today. Duncan started out as a swimmer, but began playing basketball in the ninth grade after a storm destroyed the pool at his home. He attended Wake Forest University where he played basketball and won the Naismith and USBWA College Player of the Year awards, and the John Wooden awards in his final year.

Duncan was chosen first pick by the San Antonio Spurs in the 1997 NBA Draft. With the Spurs, Duncan won the NBA Championships in 1997, 2003, 2005, and 2007. He established the Tim Duncan Foundation to provide health awareness/research, education, and youth sports/recreation in San Antonio, Winston-Salem, and the United States Virgin Islands.

Duncan has two children from a previous marriage.

Renee Zellweger, 45

Actress and producer Renee Zellweger turns 45 today. Zellweger started her career by appearing in the television film, A Taste for Killing. Her early films include Reality Bites, 8 Seconds, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, Love and a .45 and Empire Records.

Zellweger gained worldwide success with her role in Jerry Maguire. In 2001, she played Bridget Jones in the British romantic comedy Bridget Jones's Diary. She earned an Academy Award nomination for her role.

Zellweger's filmography includes White Oleander, Chicago, Cold Mountain, Shark Tale, Bee Movie, Cinderella Man and Case 39. In her career so far, she has won an Academy Award, three Golden Globes, three Screen Actors Guild awards, and a BAFTA.
