'Dragon Age: Inquisition' release date announced, new gameplay trailer out (Video)

BioWare and Electronic Arts finally announced the release date and unveiled a new gameplay trailer on Tuesday for the highly-anticipated game Dragon Age: Inquisition.

The game is set to drop on Oct. 7 on most current gen and previous gen consoles, reports Forbes. The third game in the Dragon Age series will be released on PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC.

The forthcoming game will have players controlling the head Inquisitor as he searches for answers and the cause behind a catastrophic "breach" that ended up killing everyone but you attending a peace conference.

According to Polygon, given that the devastating explosion at the conference has wiped out many belonging to the ruling classes, you become a new leader as you try to handle the aftermath of the "breach." Creative director Laidlaw told Polygon, "Once you come out of the Fade, you show yourself to be a leader. Someone has to take control and the power of the Inquisition gives you the freedom to take action.

"There's an interesting undertone here of people in the world believing that you have been sent as a leader by the maker of the universe," Laidlaw said. "As a player, I have the option of saying, 'Oh yeah, I'm the chosen one' or asking what the hell they are talking about. It's up to the player."

The released gameplay trailer attempts to show potential customers the wide open world of Inquisition and how you will be able to play around in the world. The combat for the upcoming game is said to be a blend of third-person fighting mechanics and strategic party-based mechanics.
