David Bautista and UFC champ Georges St. Pierre join 'Kickboxer' reboot

While securing funds at the Cannes Film Festival, the producers behind the upcoming Kickboxer reboot announced that they have gotten David Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy) and UFC champion fighter Georges St. Pierre to join the film.

According to Variety, the film, which has stunt man and martial artist Alain Moussi making his film debut in the lead role, were able to get the stars onto the project while in the midst of selling the remake at the film festival.

Representing the film at Cannes is The Exchange, which includes executive producers Brian O'Shea, Jeff Bowler and Nat McCormick. Also executive producing the movie is Dimitri Logothetis, Nick Celozzi, Mike Weber and Peter Meyer.

Directed by Stephen Fung (Tai Chi Zero, Tai Chi Hero), and produced by Radar Picture's Ted Field, plans were announced to remake the Jean-Claude Van Damme 1989 action film last July.

Bautista will be seen as Drax the Destroyer in Guardians of the Galaxy on August 1. St. Pierre, meanwhile, was last seen in Captain America: The Winter Solider earlier this year.
