Floyd Mayweather Jr. continued his perfect career after an intense fight against Marcos Maidana. Mayweather currently has a record of 46-0, 26 KOs.
Mayweather is known for finishing his fights quickly but the battle against Maidana was a blow for blow, all-out battle. In the end Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs), lost the fight by majority decision but showed that it could be possible for Mayweather to lose, ESPN reported.
Maidana got in more punches on Mayweather during this fight than in any of his last 38 fights previously. Mayweather landed 230 punches while Maidana only landed 221.
After the fight was over the current undefeated boxing champion spoke about the event adding that this was what fans wanted to see, ESPN added. "I want to give fans an exciting fight. Normally, I box and move. Tonight, I gave fans an exciting fight," said Mayweather.
Mayweather even spoke about the respect he had for his opponent. "He put pressure on me and that's when I decided to fight differently. I stood there and fought him. He's a good fighter, I take nothing away from him," Mayweather detailed.
Maidana thought that he had won the fight though saying that Floyd had never been hit by a man before and he gave him a great fight.
USA Today added that Maidana is already asking for a rematch.
