James Franco’s Instagram account has certainly grabbed more headlines than any other and the actor/writer/director/everything else was asked about it on The Late Show with David Letterman.

Letterman was particularly interested in that nearly nude selfie Franco posted, in which Franco is only wearing underwear. “Honest to God, why?” Letterman asked the 127 Hours actor.

“Instagram isn’t something I put a lot of thought into,” Franco said with a laugh, notes Entertainment Weekly. Franco then explained that he uses his Instagram page more to interact with fans than for the bloggers who have taken his photos.

“I didn’t ask you to look at it!” Franco told Letterman. “It’s what the people want! If you don’t want to see it, don’t follow me.”

In other Franco-related news, Deadline is reporting that his next directing effort, Child of God, will be distributed by Well Go USA. The film is based on the Cormac McCarthy novel and stars Scott Haze. Wll Go will screen the film in 10 cities on Aug. 1, the same day it hits Video On Demand.

Franco was very busy on Instagram today, showing off reviews for Palo Alto, in which he stars. He also shared a weird shirt.
