Jay Z, Beyonce and Drake score most BET Awards nominations

The BET nominations have been announced and Jay-Z, Drake and Beyonce have the most nominations for the start studded awards. They each scored five nominations for the evening.

Reuters reported that "Happy" singer Pharrell Williams and hip-hop singer August Alsina each had four nominations.

Jay Z and Drake will be competing in the best male hip-hop artist category along with Future, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar. They will also be going head to head for video of the year which also includes fellow nominees Beyonce, Chris Brown and Williams.

Mrs. Carter will be competing with her husband for video of the year as their collaboration "Drunk in Love" scored two nominations including, best collaboration and video of the year. Beyonce is also nominated for best female R&B/pop artist and for her song "Partition."

Stephen Hill, BET's President of Music Programming and Special released a statement about this years award nominees, Billboard reported. "This year's nominees represent the best of the culture. It's great to see our talented new artist's right alongside our more beloved ones with long careers. We appreciate our BET Awards nomination committee, over 300 strong, for their efforts and congratulate all the nominees."
