'Now 50' claims Billboard 200 No. 1 spot over 'Frozen'

The Frozen soundtrack is no longer at the top spot of the Billboard 200 following the release of Now That's What I Call Music 50.

The 50th installment of the compilation series sold 153,000 copies for the week ending May 11, reports Billboard. That is the best first week of sales the Now series has had since Now 31 back in 2009 sold 169,000 copies.

Frozen, perhaps only temporarily, slipped down to the No. 2 spot with 99,000 copies sold, which is still impressive. The dip in sales also breaks a streak of seven consecutive weeks the soundtrack sold over 100,000 copies.
The popular soundtrack, which has sold over 2.6 million copies since its release in late 2013, has spent 13 weeks atop the Billboard 200, though not all consecutively.

Other new albums got off to a good start for the week of May 11, with Hunter Hayes' Storyline selling 69,000 copies, good for a distant third place on the chart. Sarah McLachlan took the fourth spot with Shine On, which sold 42,000 copies in its first week.

Rapper Tech N9ne rounds out the top five on the Billboard 200 as his new album Strangeulation sold 36,000. The album might only be No. 5 on the 200 chart, but topped the Independent Albums chart.
