Ozzy Osbourne fan starts petition for Queen Elizabeth to knight singer

Sir Ozzy Osbourne has a certain ring to it. A super-fan of the Black Sabbath frontman started a petition to have the Madman of Metal be knighted by the Queen of England.

According to Noisecreep fan Helen Maidiotis actually started the petition two years ago but has only now started to receive national attention. Daughter to The Prince of Darkness, Kelly Osbourne tweeted “this really needs to happen.” Osbourne’s offical title as a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire would be Sir John Michael Osbourne, MBE.

In an interview with The Birmingham Mail Maidiotis stated, “Our campaign has reached Buckingham Palace, as a friend of mine had sent off letters explaining about our battle for Ozzy’s knighthood - and they have replied positively.”

Originally Maidiotis campaign included all four Black Sabbath members, Tony Iommi, Bill Ward and Geezer Butler, but David Spooner, who is in charge of the honor in England, stated it would highly unlikely for an entire band to be considered. She then singled out Osbourne for his efforts with Sabbath and his solo career.

Leading the charge with a Facebook page The Knighthood of Ozz with a link to the petition on Causes.com, the signatures needed are only about half way there.
