Taylor Swift, promoters cancel concert in Thailand

Country songstress Taylor Swift and concert promoters had to cancel a concert by the “Trouble” hit-maker in Thailand due to a military coup in the country.

According to The Hollywood Reporter local concert organizer BEC-Tero Entertainment cancelled the show, which was to take place on June 9 in Bangkok “due to recent events.”

“This has been a difficult decision for all parties,” the company said, adding that Swift expressed “regret and sincere apologies to the fans in Thailand.”

Swift herself took to Twitter and stated “I’m sending my love to the fans in Thailand. I’m so sad about the concert being cancelled.”

This latest military takeover has been in the works for months as the Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was believed to have been influenced by her brother Thaksin, who was removed from power in 2006. Following this takeover on May 22, military leadership ordered international channels and key local channels to go black. A nationwide 10 pm curfew was put in effect as well.
