Thursday night was surprisingly weak for most programs, including The Big Bang Theory which fell to a new season low, while several midseason shows hoping for a renewal dropped even further.
As usual, CBS topped the night with a 2.0 in the 18-49 demographic and 8.8 million viewers. Big Bang slipped to a new season low of 3.7 in the demo, which still handily tops all other programs on the night, reports HitFix. The Millers and Two and a Half Men managed to hold steady with a 2.0 and 2.1 rating, respectively. Freshman comedy Bad Teacher dropped to a 1.3 in the demo, while Elementary dipped to a 1.5 rating.
Fox came second with a distant 1.5 rating in the demo and 4.9 million viewers. Hell's Kitchen was able to hold relatively steady at a 1.5 in the demo, while American Idol actually managed some growth with a 1.6 rating. Surviving Jack ended its series run with an improved 1.2 demo rating.
ABC was right behind Fox with a 1.3 in the 18-49 demo, but tied in the average audience numbers, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Grey's Anatomy slipped to a 2.3 in the demo, while Black Box's hopes of renewal dimmed with another drop to a 1.1 demo rating.
NBC had little to offer with Hollywood Game Night holding steady with its normal weak 0.9 in the advertiser-important demo and few tuned in for the American Comedy Awards, which only managed a 1.0 in the demo. The network took in a 1.0 in the demo and 3.2 million viewers.
The CW averaged a 0.6 in the demo and 1.54 million viewers, with The Vampire Diaries and Reign coming in even with a 0.7 and 0.5 in the demo, respectively.
