Virginia teenager kicked out of prom for 'dancing provocatively,' her story goes viral when she blames it on male chaperones ogling her

A teenage girl from Virginia was kicked out of her high school prom for dancing proactively y and wearing too short of a dress, but she’s not going out without a fight. She claims that she was barely dancing and that the reason she was asked to leave was because of the male chaperones ogling over her.

The prom, meant for teens who were homeschooled, had a rule that all females wearing dresses had to wear at least a fingertip-length dress. The 17-year-old said her dress had met those guidelines.

The teen, who will only go by the name Clare, wrote about the incident on her sister’s blog.

"We were also a little grossed out by all the dads on the balcony above the dance floor, ogling and talking amongst themselves. We weren't dancing, but swaying with the music and talking and enjoying ourselves, when Mrs. D again approached me, and gestured me off the dance floor,” she wrote.

When she was told by her chaperone that her dress was making the men think “impure thoughts,” she was outraged.

“At this point I said to her that I hadn't been dancing at all! Much less seductively, and that even if I had been being inappropriate, they should issue a warning instead of just kicking me out,” she wrote.

Clare’s boyfriend, James Thompson, told NBC 12 that “no one was dancing” and as for the male chaperones staring at her, it’s “not her position to control what they think."

After this story went viral, the Richmond Homeschool Prom Facebook page was taken down due to it being inundated by Clare’s supporters.
