Daily Sports Wrap 6/21: Germany and Ghana tie, Kevin Love talks stall, Woody favors playoff expansion

Ghana and Germany tie:

Germany escaped a major scare today from Ghana in World Cup action. Ghana held a 2-1 lead until the 70’ mark where Germany’s Miroslav Klose headed one in off a corner kick, according to CBSsports.com. For Klose, this marks his 15th career Wolrd Cup goal, which ties him with Brazil’s Rinaldo for most in a career.

The rest of the game saw each team exchanging chances, but even with three minutes of stoppage time, neither team could put on in. Despite this being a painful tie for both squads, each country is still alive in the infamous “Group of Death” with Portugal and the United States.

Love to Golden State talks stall:

We all know Timberwolves stud forward Kevin Love wants out of Minnesota in the worst way. The recent talks between the Wolves and the Golden State Warriors though have recently stalled it appears.

It looked like Golden State was ready to trade sharp-shooter Klay Thompson for the big-man, until now. This is because Minnesota is also reportedly asking for a first-round pick and for the Warriors to take on Kevin Martin’s contract, according to HoopsHype.com.

Another team reportedly interested in Love is the Chicago Bulls.

Woody Johnson supports playoff expansion:

Another NFL owner has put his stamp of approval on the possibility of expanding the playoffs, New York Jets owner Woody Johnson.

"There are good arguments on both sides, and I haven't gone into it in maybe the depth that we will," Johnson said, according to Daryl Slater of the Newark Star Ledger. "We're going to study it hard. But I kind of like it. I kind of like the idea of more playoff games. We're still below other sports [in terms of the number of teams that make the playoffs],” according to CBSsports.com.

Johnson’s Jets will be looking to make the playoffs for the first time since 2010.
