Two killed, dozens injured after tornadoes rip through Nebraska (Video)

Two people have been killed and more than a dozen were injured after twin tornados spun through a small Nebraska town on Tuesday.

The Norfolk Daily News reported that two people were dead, 15 were in critical condition and five had been treated at a hospital and released following the storms. Of the deceased, one was a five-year-old child.

CNN noted that on Monday, Pilger, a town of only about 350 residents, was devastated by rare twin tornadoes that ripped through the area.

The National Weather Service said that the twisters touched down almost simultaneously about a mile apart around 4 p.m. local time. One lingered on the ground for almost an hour.

Most of the town has been reduced to rubble and Gov. Dave Heineman has declared an emergency.

The severe storms also caused damage in the nearby towns of Wisner, Stanton and Pender.

Rescue workers were on the ground Tuesday sifting through debris in search of anyone who may be trapped.
