Hilary Swank, Ed Helms to star in Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu's 'One Percent' TV drama

Acclaimed director Alejandro Gonzales Inarritu will be the latest Hollywood helmer to make the transition to the small screen. The Babel director co-created One Percent, a TV drama that could star Oscar winner Hilary Swank and Ed Helms.

One Percent will feature Swank (Million Dollar Baby, Boys Don’t Cry) and Helms (The Office, The Hangover films) as a couple who own a struggling business. According to Deadline, Ed Harris is also in talks to take the role of family patriarch.

Inarritu co-created the series with Alexander Dinelaris, Nicolas Giacobone and Armando Bo, notes The Hollywood Reporter. The four also worked on Birdman, Inarritu’s newest film, which is expected to be an awards contender this fall.

The project is at Media Rights Capital, which also produces Netflix’s House of Cards and is working with Seth MacFarlane on a Starz comedy. The studio has been working on One Percent for nine months already and is still looking for a network and a straight-to-series order. With a cast like this, it shouldn’t be too hard.

On the feature side, Inarritu is also working on The Revenant with Leonardo DiCaprio, which has hit some financial roadblocks. If Megan Ellison’s Annapurna Pictures steps in, the project might get another life.
