Baltimore Ravens running back Ray Rice has been suspended for two games due to his arrest on a domestic violence charge. The arrest for the domestic violence charge violates the NFL’s personal conduct rule, which is why he is being suspended.

TMZ broke the domestic violence story. Rice was dragging his then fiancé and now wife, Janay Palmer, out of an elevator in Atlantic City back in February.

The NFL has taken action by fining Rice. According to ESPN, Rice was fined $529,411.24. Also, Rice has to pay an additional fine of $58,823.

Rice will begin serving his suspension starting Aug. 30, and he will be eligible for reinstatement Sept. 12. The pro-bowl running back commented on his suspension.

He stated, “As I said earlier, I failed in many ways. But, Janay and I have learned from this. We have become better as a couple and as parents. I am better because of everything we have experienced since that night. The counseling has helped tremendously.”

Loosing Rice the first two games of the 2014 season is going to be a devastating blow to the Ravens’ offense. They are going to have to find another way to score points and have a consistent running game without there best running back.
