This week in pop music: Miley Cyrus, Maroon 5 to perform at VMAs, Hilary Duff's new single, Billboard Hot 100.

This week in Pop music: Miley Cyrus’s concert special under investigation, Maroon 5 will perform at MTV’s Video Music Awards, Hilary Duff to release new single on Monday, and a new comer makes it to the top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100.

It’s possible that Miley Cyrus’ concert special violated indecency and profanity rules. During July 4th weekend, Miley Cyrus: Bangerz Tour premiered on NBC and is now under investigation by the FCC ( Federal Communications Commission). While the FCC told Rolling Stone there were only four complaints, its possible others were upset over Cyrus’ actions. One complaint said some scenes were “uncomfortable” and another said the show felt like a “XXX performance.” The full complaints can be read on the Rolling Stone page above.

Not only is Maroon 5 playing at the VMAs for the first time, they are doing so just in time for their new album. Their album drops on Sept. 2 but during MTV’s VMAs the band will perform a new song from their album V as we previously reported. The VMAs will take place on Aug. 24.

Hilary Duff recently released a new single called “Chasing the Sun” and now she has another one coming. On Monday Aug. 11, Duff will drop a new single called “All About You” on radio show Nights Live with Adam Bomb as we previously reported. Duff went to Twitter to tweet her fans the cover art for her new single.

For four weeks now, MAGIC! held the number one spot on Billboard’s Hot 100. However, three pop stars made their debut at the No. 6 spot. Jessie J, Nicki Minaj, and Ariana Grande came into the top 10 with their song “Bang Bang” as we previously reported. Behind the girls are Maroon 5, Meghan Trainor, Sia, and Disclosure (with Sam Smith). Trainor also made her first appearance to the top 10 with her song “All About the Bass.”
