Disney strikes deal with Google, brings movies to Google Play

The Walt Disney Company is bringing its rich movie history to Android devices in a deal with Google. After all, Apple customers shouldn’t have the exclusive right to watch Frozen on the go.

Disney’s Movies Anywhere app is now available to download at the Google Play store. Once in the app, you can purchase digital copies of Disney, Marvel and Pixar movies to watch wherever you go.

The company first launched the app at the Apple App Store in February, which was successful. Now, Disney hopes it will do just as well with android users.

“We set out to create an exceptional Disney experience that made owning digital movies easy and fun, and with Google Play now on board following our successful launch in February, we are able to deliver unprecedented availability and ease for consumers across a broad range of mobile devices,” Janice Marinelli, chief of domestic distribution for the Walt Disney Company, said in a statement to Mashable.

When users download the app today, customers will receive a free digital copy of Wreck-It Ralph on both the Apple and Android apps.
