Carrie-Anne Moss cast in Marvel's "Jessica Jones" Netflix series

Marvel's media empire keeps growing, and Carrie-Anne Moss is the latest actor to join the fray.

Moss, best known for her star-making "Matrix" role as Trinity, has been cast in Marvel's new Netflix series "A.K.A. Jessica Jones", which follows a former superhero who moves to New York City and must readjust to normalcy while pursuing a career as a detective. According to The Huffington Post, Moss' character is shrouded in mystery, but TheWrap reports that she is possibly playing a character called Harper who could prove an invaluable support to Jones.

In a statement from Marvel, executive producer and showrunner Melissa Rosenberg commented on the casting news. "Throughout her career, Carrie-Anne has embodied a wide range of characters in a compelling way and I have no doubt she will bring that talent to A.K.A. Jessica Jones," she said.

The show has already nabbed a handful of other notable actors, including Breaking Bad's Krysten Ritter as the titular Jessica Jones and Doctor Who's David Tennant as Kilgrave, a man who suddenly reappears in Jones' life.

"A.K.A. Jessica Jones" isn't the only series in the pipeline for Marvel and Netflix: the comic book giant and subscription streaming service announced a partnership in 2013 and have four other mini-series planned for comic book characters Daredevil, Iron Fist, Luke Cage and the Defenders.
