Super Bowl XLIX between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots turned out to be a heart-stopping affair - another classic in the long line of them the past 15 years. The only black mark on the game itself was that end of game brawl.
Today the NFL fined four players for their involvement in the scuffle. CBS Sports is reporting that two Seahawks and one Patriot is seeing punishment by way of fine.
Seattle defenders Bruce Irvin and Michael Bennett have received fines of $10,000 and $8,268 respectively.
The man who's trumped all New England teammates in celebratory actions, tight-end Rob Gronkowski, is one of the Patriots seeing disciplinary action. Gronkowski and teammate Michael Hoomanawanui are also seeing $8,268 fines, notes NESN.
Prior to the Super Bowl the only talk surrounding the league was negative. The backlash about Deflate-Gate and the poor decisions regarding NFL commissioner Roger Goodell over the last six months had the media in a buzz.
Thankfully, we were treated with four hours of football goodness on Sunday night. It seems though, once the result was decided, the league went back to their negative ways with the on field brawl.
