NBC’s all-drama Thursday is not working out. The network is making some changes in an effort to make sure The Blacklist doesn’t go down with The Slap and Allegiance.
James Spader’s The Blacklist was plugged in between The Slap and Allegiance in the hopes that it would draw viewers to the two shows. However, it didn’t work at all and Allegiance is going to be completely pulled from the schedule. The Slap will move to 10 p.m.
The empty 8 p.m. slot will be taken by a special Dateline episode called The Real Blacklist this upcoming Thursday, reports TV Line.
Allegiance starred Hope Davis and Scott Cohen and was awfully similar to FX’s acclaimed The Americans, as it also centered on Russian spies in the U.S. The show was drawing less viewers than Parenthood, pulling in just 3.4 million viewers last night. The episode also drew a weak 0.8 rating in the 18-49 demographic.
As for The Slap, this week’s episode also had 3.4 million viewers and a 0.8 rating. It is a limited series, so NBC doesn’t have to worry about cancelling it.
According to Deadline, this week’s episode of The Blacklist drew a 1.7 18-49 rating, matching its series low. The show has already been renewed for a third season.
