Steven Tyler is switching genres from rock to country music and he’s doing it without Aerosmith. The rock star has officially announced he’s releasing a solo country music album.

He made the revelation at Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry on Tuesday night, as well as revealing the news on Twitter.

“GROWIN SOME NEW SONGS WITH @lindseyleemusic AND @ericpaslay,” he wrote before taking the stage.

Rolling Stone reports his transition to country music has been known amongst country music insiders for weeks and his appearance last month in a career-highlighting video of American Idol mentor Scott Borchetta was a clear indication.

He will reportedly sign to Borchetta’s Big Machine Label Group, which is Taylor Swift’s record label.

Sources told Billboard the deal will definitely be signed “before the summer.”

Tyler also moved to country music’s capital, Nashville, Tennessee, in January so he could record with some of the industry’s best.
