Hugh Jackman has once again said that his third solo Wolverine movie will definitely be the last time he plays the X-Men character.

“This will be my last time,” Jackman said during an appearance on Dr. Oz Thursday, reports ComicBook.com.

The actor, 46, said that now is the perfect time to walk away from the character.

“And let’s be honest, 17 years. I never thought in a million years it would last, so I’m so grateful to the fans for the opportunity of playing it,” he said. “I kind of have in my head what we’re going to do in this last one. It just feels like this is the perfect way to go out.”

The new movie, which will be the follow-up to James Mangold’s The Wolverine (2013), won’t start production until early 2016.

Although he once said that he’d like to play Wolverine until he dies, he said in March that the new movie will be his last time playing character.

Wolverine 3 will hit theaters in March 2017. It’s still not clear if we will see Jackman play Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse next year.

Jackman can be seen out of the X-Men universe in Pan, which hits theaters in October. The actor was nominated for an Oscar for his leading performance in Les Miserables.
