The first Captain America: Civil War trailer was unveiled last week and, unsurprisingly, Marvel didn’t spoil Spider-Man’s entrance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But that’s not stopping actor Tom Holland from spilling a few details about playing the third film incarnation of Spidey.
In an interview with SuperheroHype, the In The Heart Of The Sea actor said that he’s always been a fan of Spider-Man, even dressing up as the character for parties. “He’s always been a big part of my life and a big part of boys’ lives because everybody can relate to him,” Holland said.
During Civil War, Peter Parker will be the only remaincing MCU hero with his identity still a secret, which makes the character pretty interesting for Holland.
“I think one of the most interesting things about Peter Parker for us is that he’s the only person in the MCU now that has a secret identity, so we all know who everyone else is. I think it’s quite interesting to go back to that hiding behind a mask,” Holland said.
Holland also said that Robert Downey Jr. was involved in his first screen test and gave him some helpful advice for the audition. “Like with [In The Heart Of The Sea director Ron Howard], I just felt at ease with him, ‘cause he’s just a down to earth easy-going guy, and I can’t wait to get to work with them more,” he said.
Holland also confirmed that his first solo Spider-Man movie will be shot in Atlanta. That film will be directed by Jon Watts, who has said that Peter Parker will only be 15.
Civil War opens on May 6.
