Golden Globes 2016 nominations include ‘Carol,’ ‘Mad Max,’ ‘Empire,’ ‘Transparent’

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association announced the nominees for the 73rd annual Golden Globes this morning at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. As usual, the television side of things was filled with plenty of surprises and new faces, while the movie nominees gave more shape to the awards season.

Todd Haynes’ Carol was the most-nominated film with five. Both Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara will be competing for the Best Actress - Drama trophy and the film was nominated for Best Picture - Drama.

The Big Short, The Revenant and Steve Jobs received four nominations each.

The top nominees on the TV side were American Crime, Fargo, Mr. Robot, Outlander, Transparent and Wolf Hall, which all received three nominations each.
