Ricky Gervais discusses plans for 2016 Golden Globes

After roasting the biggest names in Hollywood for three years in a row, Ricky Gervais is returning to the Golden Globes next year and he doesn't plan to tone it down.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gervais discussed his philosophy of hosting the awards show, saying that his whole act isn't for the people in the room, but for the audience at home.

"There's nothing in it for them, they're not winning awards," Gervais said. "So I think that I've got to try to make it more of a spectator sport. But I'm not going to try to undermine the moral fabric of America!"

Gervais added that it's become a myth that he ever said anything particularly outrageous while hosting, joking that he didn't break any laws and it was just network TV, yet people now label him as a shock comedian.

And while the Office creator noted that he does actually worry about hurting people's feelings, it doesn't appear he plans to be any less mean this year. He revealed that he's written eight jokes so far, four of which he can't actually say on the air.

Gervais hosted the event from 2009 to 2011. His duties were taken over by Tiny Fey and Amy Poehler for the following three ceremonies, but he makes his return during the 73rd annual Golden Globes awards on January 10, 2016.
