Kim Kardashian pens open letter about nude selfie backlash: 'I am empowered by my body'

Kim Kardashian penned an open letter on Tuesday, March 8, a day after nearly breaking the internet again by posting a nude selfie and receiving a ton of negative backlash about it.

She feuded with Bette Midler, Chloe Grace Moretz and Piers Morgan about it and now she’s taking a different approach.

In a lengthy letter on her website, Kardashian, 35, wrote about International Women’s Day and feeling proud and “empowered” in her own skin.

“I don't do drugs, I hardly drink, I've never committed a crime—and yet I'm a bad role model for being proud of my body?” she wrote.

Kardashian went on to bring up her sex tape, asking why it always "comes back around" even though it was made 13 years ago. She wrote that she’s already moved on from the “embarrassment and fear” from it and urges everyone else to do the same.

The mom of two said she will pass on the “life lessons” she’s learned from the women in her family to her 2-year-old daughter North and gushed her husband, Kanye West, has given her a “newfound confidence.”

“It's 2016. The body-shaming and slut-shaming—it's like, enough is enough,” she concluded. “I will not live my life dictated by the issues you have with my sexuality. You be you and let me be me.

I am a mother. I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, an entrepreneur and I am allowed to be sexy.”
