Jack Black falls victim to death hoax after Tenacious D twitter hack

Actor and Tenacious D band member Jack Black was the victim of a death hoax over the weekend.

On the Tenacious D twitter account, a now deleted post appeared saying the 46-year-old passed away in his sleep in the middle of the night. However, a new post appeared assuring fans that the tweet was the result of hacking and that “Jack is ALIVE and WELL and that this was a sick ‘prank.’”

After “announcing” his death, the hacker told people it was a joke and to follow him. To disprove the hoax, one fan posted a photo taken just a few hours previously with Black.

Guitar player John Konesky also assured people it was a hoax.

Thankfully Black will continue to dole out the laughter and music for his fans. Of course, he isn’t the first celebrity to be the victim of a death hoax, which comes at an inappropriate time after the passing of Muhammad Ali.

Other celebrities who have fallen victim to the death hoax include Miley Cyrus, Macaulay Culkin, Ricky Martin and Hugh Hefner.

Mark McGrath had one that was actually orchestrated as a promotional tool.
