J. Cole breaks Apple Music streaming record with 'KOD'

J. Cole, fifth, studio, KOD

Count it up!

J. Cole broke the Apple Music record for album streams in the first 24 hours of release with his fifth album, KOD. The album reached 64.5 million streams on Friday after its first 24 hours.

J. Cole beat out the previous record holder, Drake, for his album Views by almost 1 million views.

Seven of the songs on KOD now also holds the record for most streamed songs in a 24 hour period on Apple Music including hits 'ATM' and title song, 'KOD.'

In addition to the new record, Apple Music also held a majority of the streaming share in the market for KOD, reaching 66 percent in the US.

These numbers are surprising, considering that Spotify has over 120 million more users than Apple Music. Spotify only got 36 million streams in the first 24 hours for KOD, which is still a milestone for the rapper.

On Friday, J. Cole revealed what the album means to him on Twitter.

The album has already received rave reviews from fans and critics. In addition to the album released, J. Cole also released a trippy music video for 'ATM.'
