Jason Derulo might not be well known in the country music industry but that didn't stop the "Talk Dirty" singer from performing during the opening number of the CMT Music Awards.
People reported that the opening number to the CMT Music Awards featured some of the biggest names in country music, including Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, ZZ Top, but Derulo coming on stage to perform his latest hit took fans by surprise.
Florida Georgia Line kicked off the performance with their single, "This Is How We Roll," which features Luke Bryan, but at the end of the performance they were joined by Derulo who then went into his hit "Talk Dirty."
During Derulo's performance, the other artists on stage couldn't help but sing along. He took the stage wearing one of his typical white t-shirts and jacket, no country music attire to be seen, but the crowd went wild for this unique genre collaboration.
Hollywood Life reported that Derulo did comment on his performance saying that he was excited to be able to cross musical boundaries and enter into a different walk of life. "Just because you love country music doesn’t mean you can’t love other genres of music. So the fact that they thought of my song to be at the CMTs is unbelievable. I’m just really excited more than anything and I have my cowboy hat on deck,” said Derulo.
