According to the Hollywood Reporter, Alex O'Loughlin has joined the cast of the rebooted Hawaii Five-0 in the starring role of Detective Steve McGarrett.

O'Loughlin joins Lost cast member Daniel Dae Kim, who will be reviving the role of Detective Chin Ho Kelly, one of McGarrett's partners from the original series.

The pilot for the refreshed series is penned by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, who many of you probably already know by now are frequent collaborators with J. J. Abrams, having worked on Lost, Fringe, Star Trek and pretty much everything Abrams has done since Alias.

Producing the series will be Peter Lenkov, who is a current show runner and executive producer on CSI: NY. Perhaps there are plans for a crossover? All of that potential synergy just has to be stewing in somebody's mind over at CBS!

O'Loughlin has already worked for the network twice before, with Moonlight and Three Rivers.
