In July 2009, a videotape leaked to the Internet showing ESPN sideline reporter Erin Andrews walking around her hotel room in the nude. The footage, which was made without her consent or knowledge, was captured through a peephole on a mobile phone by Michael Barrett, who was sentenced to 30 months in prison for interstate stalking back in March.
According to ABC News, Andrews has filed a lawsuit against Marriott International Inc, Radisson Hotels International and other affiliated hotels for emotional distress, invasion of privacy and negligence. Representatives for the Marriott and the Radisson have declined comment thus far, according to the Associated Press.
Andrews, 32, who was a finalist during the tenth season of ABC’s Dancing With the Stars in the spring, alleges that the hotels notified Barrett she intended to make reservations and even gave him her room number after he requested the information.
She also claims that her interstate stalker was allowed to check-in to adjacent rooms during her hotel visits. Once he was in position to follow through with his intentions, he modified the peephole devices from her hotel doors in an attempt to secretly capture nude footage of the attractive sideline reporter.
The videos were taken two years ago in hotel rooms in Nashville, Tennessee and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, according to the AP.
