Snoop Dogg and his wife Shanté Broadus opened up to People Magazine about their 11-year-old daughter Cori and her battle with lupus - the autoimmune disease that attacks healthy cells and tissue.

The rapper described feeling “helpless” when Cori started dropping weight and losing clumps of hair, but doctors could not give a reason why.

“No one could tell me what was wrong. They drew tons of blood and said she has old-person cells. They gave her all kinds of [medication]. But she went downhill,” Shanté said.

After diagnosing the disease, the family was better prepared to respond to her condition. Snoop added, “She's the toughest little thing I've ever met. She's on the honor roll, playing volleyball and softball, living life. She has all this joy. In the beginning lupus was winning. But now Cori is."

In 2007, Snoop Dogg, born Calvin Broadus, starred in the reality series Snoop Dogg's Father Hood with his wife and their three children; Cori, Cordell and Corde.
