Black Swan stars tell E! Online that the choreography in the film is so demanding, it caused a few trips to the hospital.

Mila Kunis told E! at the AFI Fest 2010 screening in L.A., “I tore a ligament," adding, "I hyper extended my shoulder. I had to go get an MRI. I have a couple of scars, a couple of bruises."

Portman, on the other hand, injured herself as well. Benjamin Millepied, who played director Darren Aronofsky's choreographer as well as the principle dancer in the film, told E! that Portman’s dancing partner, Vincent Cassel, was so inexperienced in lifting that Portman was injured from the lifts.

“Natalie had a rib injury from being carried by Vincent, who had very little training on how to lift," Millepied explained. "We repeated a scene so many times, the next day he couldn't walk because his back was bad, and she couldn't breathe because her rib was bad from [being] squeezed. Her rib was just out of place.

"There's a moment in the film where she's with a therapist who inserts her fingers in her rib. It's actually real. She was actually really working on her,” he added.

In addition, producer Brian Oliver says Portman "hit her head pretty good” and had to get an X-ray and MRI.
