Actress-comedian Roseanne Barr is planning to run for the Green Party's presidential nomination.
According to the Los Angeles Times, Barr filed the official paperwork that is required, creating a four-way race for the nomination.
Barr has said that she is a longtime supporter of the party, as she does not believe that the two major parties properly serve Americans.
"The Democrats and Republicans have proven that they are servants -- bought and paid for by the 1 percent -- who are not doing what's in the best interest of the American people," The Huffington Post quoted Barr.
Barr promised on her Twitterthat within the first 100 days of her term she will institute "#Europeanstyle" single-payer health care. She also tweeted that she will forgive all mortgage and credit card debt "by kicking out the FED-those to whom all this fake debt is owed."
Barr has also promised that she will make war illegal, legalize hemp and marjuana, and include more women in the government in a campaign speech she gave in May 2010.
In a candidate questionnaire submitted to the Green Party, Barr stated, "I will barnstorm American living rooms. Mainstream media will be unable to ignore me, but more importantly they will be unable to overlook the needs of average Americans in the run-up to the 2012 election," quoted The Huffington Post.
The Green Party's presidential nominee will be selected in July at a convention in Baltimore.
Barr is known for her TV sitcom Roseanne that was on the air from 1988 to 1997. Barr played the wise-cracking mom in a blue-collar family. The role earned her an Emmy and a Golden Globe.
