Matt Bomer heats up the small screen on USA's White Collar and recently heated up the big screen in this summer's Magic Mike. But is Bomer's sexuality affecting the roles for which he gets cast?
According to E! News, that question came into play when Jackie Collins said that it was Bomer's sexuality that cost him the role of Superman in Brett Ratner's 2003 project titled Superman Flyby.
Examiner.com quoted Collins, adding that, "If Justin Bieber said he was gay, he'd lose all his little girl fans."
Despite what Collins said, a source told Marc Malkin, a senior editor and writer for E! Online, that none of it is true.
"Matt was Brett's Superman. He would never have not cast Matt because he's gay. Brett knew Matt was gay. They're good friends. Matt not being Superman had nothing to do with his sexuality. It was because the director changed," the source informed Malkin.
That change in director was how the unsuccessful Superman Returns came to be, starring Brandon Routh and directed by Bryan Singer.
E! News quoted Bomer from a 2010 MTV News interview proving he did have the role. He said he had screen-tested for the Superman role but it eventually fell apart and went in a different direction.
According to E! News, Collins clarified that a "Hollywood exec" had told her this information on Bomer a while ago.
"You can't trust them I guess. I have more faith in Santa Claus now than I do an exec," E! News quoted Collins from her statement released this morning.
