Hawaii Five-0 is set to remake "Hookman," a famous episode from the 1973 original series.

"We at Hawaii Five-0 hold the original series in reverence, and to be able to go to their well of incredible storytelling is such an honor," the show's executive producer, Peter Lenkov, was quoted by The Huffington Post.

The original episode was about a double amputee who wants to get revenge against the cops who were responsible for the loss of his hands and those cops include McGarrett. According to Entertainment Weekly, in the new version, McGarrett's father will have a connection to this man instead of McGarrett himself.

"Aside from updating a few sign-of-the-times elements, we are using the original as a roadmap to stay true to each and every element that made 'Hookman' such a beloved hour of television, even going so far as to secure the same locations used in the original episode," Lenkov continued.

Actor Peter Weller will direct the episode as well as guest star as the villain, who was originally played by double amputee Jay J. Armes, reports Entertainment Weekly.

The new version of "Hookman" will air in early 2013.
